Each day can be unpredictable. Sometimes, being able juggle the multiple hats we wear is the challenge. Understanding the resources available to you and using them to the best of your ability is key to being able to manage the day, rather than having the day manage you.

What do you like about your job and the company?
One of my favorite compliments I was ever given was that people like to reach out to me with questions because no matter how crazy or off the wall the question or idea might be, I approach it without judgement. Each of us has our niche, and being able to embrace and encourage others to brainstorm ideas or talk through a concept is a fun way to connect and learn. I'm always impressed by the creativity and courage that others display with their ideas and am humbled by some of the experiences that people approach me with. While I may not interact directly with the public, I'm proud to be able to make a positive impact towards those who do.

All organizations have been challenged with staying on top of the rapidly changing times. Through my years with the County I've been able to work side-by-side or help lead projects to make a stronger work environment. As systems and processes become outdated I've been able to work with different leaders within the organization to update workflows and processes that no longer make sense while helping to coach and guide newer employees to gain the confidence and ability to excel in their roles.

In my experience, I have learned that it is important to always find different ways of doing things. So, consult with those impacted by your work, and with those who are doing work like yours in far off places. It's also important to help others understand how things are connected, because decisions usually aren't made for the best interest of one individual or team. They are usually made for the collective operation of a department and a community.
